York County's home sales have shown year-over-year growth for 20 consecutive months with no signs of that streak ending any time soon.

A total of 568 homes were sold in the county during July, according to a Realtors Association of York and Adams Counties report, which showed that figure was 17 percent more than in July 2015.

"We're lining up for a strong August and September," RAYAC President Tony Thomas said. "The numbers will go down in terms of activity, but I still see (the market) continuing to outperform its year-over-year numbers."

The housing market tends to follow the temperatures in heating up during the summer, with June often providing the largest figures as buyers wait until school lets out, Thomas said.

A total of 3,228 homes have been sold in the county through July 2016, which the report shows is 15 percent higher than the same time frame last year.

Median sale prices also are shooting up, which Thomas said he attributes partly to low inventory.

York County homes sold for a median price of $172,000 in July, a 14 percent increase over last July's figure.

Four school districts saw median sale prices surpass $200,000: Central, Northern, Southeastern and Southern. Spring Grove wasn't far off, either, with a median sale price of $191,320 during July, according to the report.

Thomas said sale prices tend to be higher toward the borders of the county, closer to Baltimore or Harrisburg.
