White Rose Bar and Grill's owner and general manager have officially given the former Maewyn's Pub a new name: Rockfish Public House.

Tom Sibol, owner of White Rose for more than three decades, and Jeremiah Anderson, general manager since 2008, announced their purchase of the building at 110 N. George St. last November.

Sibol said at the time the plan was to turn the two-story, 7,766-square-foot space into a seafood restaurant, which would include an oyster bar.

Anderson did not return requests for comment on the new name, which was revealed via the restaurant's Facebook page.

The Facebook page's description notes that the restaurant will feature seafood primarily from the Atlantic Coast and Gulf of Mexico that is "wild caught, sustainably harvested and/or farmed in a manner which is good for the environment."

The downstairs will feature a full-service bar with 24 draft beers, while the upstairs will hold a bar and entertainment stage for live music and other acts, according to the page.

The new restaurant's manager confirmed they are looking to hire approximately 40 employees for front and back of house positions, and they are hosting open interviews 10 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays on location.
