Paint-and-sip studio set to join West Manchester Town Center
The owner of a debt collection agency, West York resident Jeremy Sherwood grew tired of getting yelled at on the phone, so he decided he needed a different business venture.
"I was tired of making angry money," Sherwood said. "I wanted to make happy money."
Sherwood and his wife, Niki, eventually landed on Pinot's Palette, a Texas-based "paint-and-sip studio," which the couple will open soon in West Manchester Town Center.
The BYOB paint studio will offer two- and three-hour classes that will allow people with no artistic background to "create a masterpiece they'll be proud to hang on their walls at home," said Sherwood, who's hoping to open the studio in early August.
Sherwood said he and his wife are proof of the method, as neither has any artistic background but both now have paintings hung throughout their home that they created at similar venues.
The franchise has locations throughout the country, including five other studios in Pennsylvania, and Sherwood said he hopes to open more Pinot's Palette locations in Central Pennsylvania.
Sherwood said he will soon be posting ads looking for 10 to 15 artists who don't need a degree but should be good at painting and should like having fun.
The 2,244-square-foot studio, which has more than 6,000 paintings it can teach, will likely operate seven days per week between adult classes, corporate events, private parties and children's, or "Little Brushes," classes, he said.
Classes will average around $25 depending on length and time of day, and guests are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks.
The studio will be between the Ann Taylor Loft and Tropical Smoothie, which are already open, and across the street from a Fine Wine & Good Spirits store, which is scheduled to open this summer.
Sherwood said he chose the location because the other stores in the center cater to a demographic similar to the one he's hoping to reach.
