Columbia Gas replacing pipelines in York City
Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania is investing $978,000 in a natural gas pipeline replacement project in York City, according to a company news release.
The company has begun the project to replace more than 4,800 feet of pipe on West College Avenue. The infrastructure replacement involves pipelines along West College Avenue, Grantley Street, South Hartley Street, South Penn Street, South Newberry Street, Salem Avenue and other side streets.
Construction will take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Temporary road and lane closures are possible during working hours.
The work will require a temporary interruption of natural gas service for customers while it is transferred to the new pipe, but Columbia Gas will make personal contact with customers before shutting off service. All work will be done at no additional cost to customers.
All company and contract employees have photo ID badges identifying them as Columbia Gas employees or contractors. Customers are welcome to ask for ID before allowing anyone into their home or can call (888) 460-4332 for Columbia Gas employee verification.
