Apio recently completed a project more than tripling the size of its Hanover plant and allowing the company to expand by 100 employees, according to a company news release.

The $19.5 million renovations and expansion were completed May 25 after about a year of construction, according to spokeswoman Shannon Hartwig.

The growth will allow Apio to "meet demand for its growing portfolio of value-added vegetable and salad products," according to the release.

The facility, originally 19,000 square feet, is now 64,000 square feet and went from two to 10 production lines.

The facility, at 26 Industrial Drive, currently has 70 employees, including 20 of the 100 positions made available by the expansion, Hartwig wrote in an email.

Positions are available across all departments, including production, maintenance, sanitation and quality assurance, and Apio is hoping to hire 10 more people by the end of the year.

The company will celebrate the expansion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony  at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16.
