Columbia Gas replacing pipelines in Hanover, W. Manchester Twp.

Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania is investing more than $1.5 million on separate natural gas pipeline replacement projects in Hanover and West Manchester Township, according to company news releases.

The company has begun the approximately $600,000 project to replace more than 2,000 feet of pipeline on East Walnut Street in Hanover. The project involves pipelines between Fulton Street and Locust Street with additional work on Fulton Street and Baer Avenue.

The company has also begun the approximately $965,000 project to replace more than 5,300 feet of pipeline on Loucks Road in West Manchester Township. The project involves pipelines between Kenneth Road and Hayden Heights Road.

In both projects, construction will take place between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, Temporary lane closures are possible on area roads during working hours.

The work will require a temporary interruption of natural gas service for customers while it is transferred to the new pipe, but Columbia Gas will make personal contact with customers before shutting off service. All work will be done at no additional cost to customers.
