Rabbit Transit has outgrown its current headquarters and is planning to move into a new building at the end of the summer, according to executive director Rich Farr.

York's transit authority has owned the former Susquehanna Pfaltzgraff warehouse at 415 Zarfoss Dr. in West Manchester Township for about seven years, Farr said, and they hope to be moved in there by the end of August.

Farr said the authority, which has grown to serve six counties, simply outgrew the current facility at 1230 Roosevelt Ave. in York City.

"We're bursting at the seams," Farr said. "People are bumping into each other getting out of their chairs."

Rabbit Transit has been in its current building for nearly 25 years, Farr said. The 22,500-square-foot building is now out for sealed bids, which start at $2.25 million, according to an online real estate listing.

The new facility is 250,000 square feet and will allow for three additional maintenance bases, Farr said.

He added that customers shouldn't notice any changes as a result of the move.
