The Greene Turtle is officially making its way — possibly slowly — into York County.

The Ocean City-based family-friendly sports bar and grille recently completed an agreement with franchise group, Typhoon Central PA, to bring six new locations into Central Pennsylvania, including one in York County, according to a company press release.

Dave Trimbur, owner of Typhoon Central PA, said there's no current timetable set up for when they're hoping to open the restaurants, but they're actively looking at locations throughout York County.

The restaurant, which Trimbur said local residents may be familiar with from trips to Ocean City's beaches, is typically housed in buildings between 65,000-70,000 square feet.

The Greene Turtle currently operates 44 locations in Maryland, Washington, D.C., New York, West Virginia, Virginia and Delaware, according to the release. The deal with Typhoon, which will also add locations in State College, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, and Lebanon counties, are in conjunction with other deals to open the restaurant throughout the state.

Aside from the typical bar food, Greene Turtle is known for its fresh crab cakes and eastern shore mac and cheese, Trimbur said. The sports bar is unique because of its family-friendly atmosphere and commitment to the local community and youth sports, he added.
