New affordable senior living complex open in York Township
With Springwood Overlook's waiting list growing longer, Presbyterian Senior Living felt another affordable senior apartment building in York Township was needed.
After about a year of construction, the $11 million, 50-apartment complex project is complete, and low- to moderate-income residents age 62 and older are beginning to move in, according to the nonprofit's Chief Financial Officer Jeff Davis.
Davis said the Westminster Place at Queen Street apartments, at 150 Pauline Dr., are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, and he expects the complex to be completely occupied soon.
The complex consists of 40 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom apartments ranging from 600 to 800 square feet.
It will incorporate sustainability, energy conservation and innovative design, while also featuring a community meeting room, gym, library and game room, according to the company's press release. The community also provides supportive service coordination to support aging-in-place.
The building will be slightly smaller than Springwood Overlook, at 2330 Freedom Way, which contains 84 apartments. Davis said Presbyterian Senior Living is looking into refurbishing that location soon.
