For the first time in 66 years, the writing above the Harley-Davidson logo at Manchester Township's dealership does not read "Laugerman's."

The dealership, at 100 Arsenal Road, officially opened under new ownership as 1st Capital Harley-Davidson on Wednesday after Laugerman's Harley-Davidson closed on Friday, according to the company's Facebook page. Three generations of Laugerman family members operated the dealership since it opened in 1949.

The dealership is now owned by lifelong York residents Sue Renoll and Clint Sheffer, who are siblings. The brother-sister duo most recently owned and operated S.A.S. Truck and Fleet Service in York City, which they no longer operate. Renoll said she and her brother decided to purchase the dealership because it was a "terrific opportunity" to be a part of a great brand.

"We appreciate the heritage of (Laugerman's) and what it means to the county," Renoll said. "We want to maintain that customer base and build on what they started."

Renoll said planned improvements included new inventory daily, extended yearlong hours and planned events for customers on-site. The dealership's news hours are 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. She said more changes will be planned based on input they receive from customers.

Renoll said many employees from Laugerman's remain on staff, and 1st Capital will look to hire three to five additional employees in the near future.
