H.B. McClure has purchased Worden and Shewell, a mechanical contractor in Spring Garden Township, from Shipley Energy.

Shipley had owned the subsidiary for less than two years, said Shipley spokesman Bob Astor.

"It wasn't the best fit for us," Astor said of the reason for the sale. He added: "We don't do large industrial commercial HVAC, which is what Worden and Shewell does. H.B. McClure does; that's the core of their business."

Shipley tried for the past year and a half to integrate Worden and Shewell into its core business unit but decided it just wasn't going to work, Astor said.

"We had an opportunity to sell it to the H.B. McClure folks, and they were happy to have it," he said.

Astor said the transaction was a "balanced sale" in relation to the price Shipley paid for Worden and Shewell.
