Twenty York restaurants will share samples of their culinary delights during the annual Flavors of York food-tasting gala next month at the Wyndham Garden York.
The night features samples from Anstine’s Candy, Essan Thai, John Wright Restaurant, Rockfish Public House, Tutoni’s, York City Pretzel and more. Silent auctions will be held, and the Five/Four will be playing jazz standards.
Proceeds benefit Temple Beth Israel and its Doing Good for Goode project, which enhances educational opportunities for students at Goode K-8 in York City.
Flavors of York runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at the hotel, 2000 Loucks Road. Tickets are $40 in advance or $45 at the door, if any remain.

Gourd yourself for the sixth annual Pumpkin Fest at Central Market, where adults will be cooking and carving and kids will be costumed and painted.
The family-friendly event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at the market, 34 W. Philadelphia St., York. Many market vendors will be running pumpkin-themed specials. Attendees can find pumpkin-shaped lollipops, pumpkin-scented soap and candles, pumpkin tacos and salsa, and pumpkin beverages, breakfasts and desserts, among other things.
Activities include a cooking demonstration and trick-or-treating for children (costumes encouraged) from 10 a.m. to noon, pumpkin decorating and face painting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a pumpkin-carving judging at noon. Carvers must sign up in advance and bring their carved or decorated pumpkin to the contest registration table between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.
