An 1850s-style Fourth of July
Step back in time for a Fourth of July celebration at the Goodridge Freedom Center, 123 E. Philadelphia St., York.
The fun starts at 4 p.m. Friday, July 7, at the center. Visitors can snack on homemade sesame cookies and corn bread and quench their thirst with instant lemonade, 1850s-style. The hosts will explain how the Goodridges got their ingredients and made and sold these treats in the days before electricity and supermarkets.
