Crab week in York City

That's Crab Week in York City, a stretch from Monday, Aug. 8, to Saturday, Aug. 13, when city eateries will serve up a range of crustacean-based dishes.

A pun-laden news release from the York City Independent Restaurant Association announced the occasion. As of Friday evening 13 restaurants had signed on, offering a gamut of crabby fare from jumbo-lump crab beignets to burgers and hush puppies.

Yorkers flock downtown as Restaurant Week begins

The association, which is led by York City Pretzel Co. co-owners Philip Given and Meagan Feeser, is the organization behind Restaurant Week York, which has run each of the past few Februaries. It also organized Burger Week, which was held in May, aka national burger month.

They've also organized smaller occasions, such as a grilled cheese day, earlier this year.
