Seventeen wineries and distilleries; three weekends: Are you up to the challenge?


Tour de Tanks: The Mason-Dixon Wine Trail hosts its winter tour for the 11th time this March. Seventeen area wineries and distilleries are on this year’s Tour de Tanks self-guided experience. Ticket-holders will be granted exclusive tank and barrel tastings from noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, March 5-20. Tickets are $25 and include the tastings, light food, a souvenir wine glass, presentations by the winemakers and a discount on wine purchases. Designated drivers are admitted free but will not get the souvenir glass or take part in the tastings.

Chef Challenge: YorKitchen in the Central Market annex will play host to a culinary competition between two local chefs at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 9. The chefs will have less than 45 minutes to prepare each course using a mystery ingredient, and the audience will be the judge of who has delivered the best dishes. The event includes a three-course meal with two plates per course for each diner. Tickets are $65 and likely to sell out in advance.
