BLOG: Life getting in the way...... two months of little outdoor activity

Sitting down at the computer this morning I realized it's been two months since my last post. It's not that I haven't wanted to write, it's because of a lack of adventures. A busy freelance schedule, a new dog and a vacation with friends took much of my hiking time away from me in May and June. Life getting in the way of what we love.

But still, looking back, there were a few little adventures here and there. A quick fly-fishing trip to Muddy Creek during a downpour and catching a handful of wild brown trout on dry flies. A short "hike" in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with my wife and our friends that led to me seeing my very first wild rattlesnake. Fathers Day in a bass boat on the Susquehanna River with my Dad.

Now that I consider it, even though I haven't been pounding out mileage with a pack on my back, I've still managed to get connected to nature while dealing with life. And sometimes the little connections are what keep us hooked up to the world as a whole.
