Dallastown High School graduate Sydney Terroso, a first-year goalkeeper at Yale University, has been named the Ivy League Field Hockey Rookie of the Week.

Terroso stopped 24 of 26 shots over the weekend. Terroso’s weekend began with a 17-save effort Saturday against No. 16 Harvard in a 2-1 overtime loss at Johnson Field. That was the most saves in a game for a Yale goalie since Emilie Katz stopped 21 against Syracuse in 2015.

Terroso followed up that effort with a seven-save shutout Sunday against Liberty, a game the Bulldogs won 1-0 in overtime.

Yale is 4-3 overall.

For the weekend, she posted a 1.17 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage, spending more than 154 minutes in the cage. She leads the Ivy League in saves per game (7.86) and is second in save percentage (.797).

Terroso played for Yale field hockey alum Anne Lehman Dillman (1993) with the Lanco Premier Field Hockey Club. Terroso, whose sister Bryna Cook plays for Mercyhurst and whose twin brother Avery plays volleyball at St. John Fisher College, is in Davenport College at Yale.
