The Christian School of York baseball team will chase its second straight Commonwealth Christian Athletic Conference championship on Thursday.

The Crusaders earned their berth in the title contest with an 8-7 triumph over Lancaster County Christian on Tuesday. That was a dramatic turnaround from the previous meeting between the two teams, when LCC earned a 21-5 victory. Earlier in the season, CSY beat LCC, 5-4.

Tuesday, Neco Lopez pitched six innings with nine strikeouts for CSY, while Ben Bills went 3 for 3 with three doubles and scored three runs. Freshman Brady Stauffer had the game-winning hit .

CSY sits at 11-4 on the season, while High Point will enter with a 13-0 mark.

High Point beat CSY during their two regular-season meetings, 5-3 and 17-0.

Thursday's title contest will be played at Ed Wenger Field in Lebanon starting at 6 p.m.

The Crusaders are in good position to make the District 3 Class 1-A playoffs. They are currently No. 3 in the 1-A power ratings. The top six teams will make the 1-A playoffs.

Torreullas honored at Nyack: CSY graduate Anthony Torreullas was recently named the Rookie of the Year for the Nyack College baseball team.

A freshman utility player, Torreullas led Nyack in hitting at .317 and on-base percentage at .425. He finished with 17 RBIs, 17 runs scored, eight doubles and a triple.

Nyack finished 23-20 overall.

Ben Bills plans to play for Nyack next season.

Nyack competes at the NCAA Division II level in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).
