Central York's Carson Bacha took home first place in this past weekend's Pittsburgh Jr. Challenge at Birdsfoot Golf Club.

The freshman was the only player to shoot under par for the two-day event, posting a 1-under 143 two-round total, good for an eight-stroke win in the boys' 14-15 division. The event is part of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour.

After posting a 1-under 71 on Saturday, Bacha held a six-stroke lead over his two nearest competitors. In command, Bacha went out on Sunday and shot a level-par 72, again the best round of the day.

Bacha was a real bright spot on the Panthers' high school team this past fall, despite only being a freshman. He routinely found himself playing in the No. 1 or No. 2 spot on the team and was instrumental in helping Central capture the York-Adams League and District 3 3-A team titles, while finishing third in the PIAA Class 3-A team event, the first time the program qualified for the state team event.
