BLOG: Northeastern pre-selling tickets for state opener
Ahead of its opening round state playoff game, the Northeastern athletic department will be pre-selling tickets for the boys' Class 5-A basketball game against Wissahickon.
The Bobcats will open up their state tournament with a game on Friday night at 7:30 at West York High School. Tickets will go on sale starting on Wednesday, March 8 from 2-5 p.m. in the ninth grade office (198 N. Hartman Street) and Thursday (if necessary) at the same time and location. Tickets will be sold for $6 for adults and $3 for students.
Any tickets sold at the door of the game will be $6.
Northeastern is coming off the program's first ever District 3 title after defeating Mechanicsburg in the 5-A championship game last Friday night.
The Bobcats are 27-2 on the year and will face a Wissahickon (15-11) team that finished seventh in District 1.
Argento, Oswalt in football all-star game: Red Lion lineman Nick Argento and Central York football coach Josh Oswalt will participate in this spring's Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game in Altoona.
Argento, who will play for Bloomsburg next fall, was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year this past season in York-Adams League Division I, but dominated on both sides of the ball for the Division I-champion Lions. On the West Team roster, Argento is listed as an offensive lineman.
Red Lion went 10-1 this past season and led the Y-A League in scoring offense, but lost in the opening round of the District 3 6-A tournament.
Oswalt will serve as an assistant coach for the West Team. He just completed his first season as head coach of the Panthers, guiding the team to a 7-4 record and spot in the 6-A tournament. Oswalt helped turn around a Central York program that went just 3-7 in 2015.
The PSFCA East-West All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at Altoona's Mansion Park Stadium. Created in 2001, the PSFCA East-West All-Star Game considers itself a sister game to the long-running Big 33 Classic.
In 15 all-time games, the East Team holds a 10-5 record over the West Team.
