BLOG: Central, Susquehannock hockey teams set to start

The Central Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League season will start Friday for the two York-area teams.

The Central York team moves up to Tier 2 this season after spending last season combined with Dallastown in Tier 3. That effort saw the team produce an 11-7 record, good for a third-place tie in the tier.

The Susquehannock squad remains in Tier 3 after a 10-6-2 record a year ago, tied with Central.

Susquehannock opens its 2016 season with a game against Lampeter-Strasburg at 7:15 p.m. Friday at York City Ice Arena. Central starts with a 7 p.m. Friday match-up against Hempfield at Lancaster Ice Arena.

Despite carrying the names of their schools, neither squad is sponsored by their institution. The CPIHL does not have any affiliation with either the PIAA or the York-Adams League.

Remington Batt of Central York/Dallastown looks for an opening against the Shamrocks during an ice hockey game last February at the York City Ice Arena. The two area teams, Central York and Susquehannock, will start the 2016 Central Penn Interscholastic Hockey League season on Friday.
