BLOG: Susquehannock's Abrams plays at Pebble Beach
Susquehannock High School junior Kendel Abrams recently played one of the great golf courses in the world.
The PGA Tour Champions event was held from Sept. 13-18 in California.
Abrams is a starter on Susquehannock’s varsity golf team and has established herself as one of the best young female golfers in York County. This summer, she finished second in the York County Junior Golf Association Match Play Championship, and last fall she took third in the York-Adams League Girls' Championship.
Three years ago, Abrams developed a program called “Grasp Girls with Golf” to get more girls to play the sport. She has been in The First Tee of Greater Baltimore program for three years. The First Tee is a youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its values to young people.
“I applied last year and was not selected. It taught me to not give up on my dreams, continue to work hard, and stay positive. I was ecstatic to see my name on the screen of the Golf Channel as a participant that has been selected for 2016,” Abrams said in a news release. “I know this experience will be one to remember for the rest of my life.”
Abrams finished 5-under par over two rounds of play at Poppy Hills and Pebble Beach.
