The Susquehannock High School field hockey team is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Amanda Strous Scholarship Fund during the Warriors' home game against Dallastown on Thursday.

Strous was a former Dallastown High and Shippensburg University field hockey player who was killed in June.

Seniors Carsen Bateman, Brooke Morris, Emily Schertle and Maddie Tomasic expressed, in a news release, that Strous’ death “really hit home” for them as fellow field hockey players.

“We are opponents during the season but we’re all connected,” Bateman said in the release.

The team will wear purple hair ribbons to show their support during the game. Purple was Strous’ favorite color.

Susquehannock varsity coach Tracey Kerr said the team is selling drinks and baked goods, all utilizing the purple theme. Susquehannock field hockey families are donating the items for the sale, and all proceeds go directly to Shippensburg University’s Amanda Strous Scholarship Fund.
