BLOG: York County players honored by US Lacrosse

US Lacrosse has named four York County players to its 2016 High School All-Academic Teams.

York Catholic's Lindsey China and Kayleigh Pokrivka were selected for the girls' team, while Red Lion's Alex Keough and Spring Grove's Ethan Clark were selected for the boys' team.

This is the second year China has achieved the honor.

York Catholic girls' lacrosse coach Rob Linthicum was named the Y-A League Coach of the Year after guiding the Fighting Irish to a 15-2-1 record so far this season and a 10-1-1 mark in league play.

To be eligible, all of the following criteria must be met:

►The head varsity coach must be a US Lacrosse member and must nominate the player. A coach can only nominate up to two players.

►The player must be a junior or senior.

►The player must have played in a majority of his or her team's games in the current season.

►The player must be a starter or significant contributor.

►The player must have a cumulative course load of at least 50 percent college prep, honors or advanced-placement courses.

►The player must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.7 or better on a scale where 4.0 is perfect.

►The player must not exceed an allotted number of penalty points (red and yellow cards).

►The player must have made significant contributions to the school and/or community beyond participation on school athletic teams, and these contributions must be verified.

►The player who violates his or her school's written contract or code of conduct may be excluded from consideration.
