North Carolina State freshman Brett Kinneman was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Freshman Team earlier this week.

Kinneman, who graduated from West York High School last spring, broke out for the Wolfpack in a big way midway through the season.

After making just one start and appearing in eight of N.C. State's first 27 games, Kinneman has gone on to start in more than half of the team's games this year, making 27 starts, primarily in the outfield. He's hitting .292 on the year, while driving in 27 runs, totaling 15 extra-base hits and banging four home runs.

His first collegiate home run came on April 19 in a loss to East Carolina. He followed that with a home run in his next start four days later in a win at North Carolina A&T.

Kinneman's breakout game for the Wolfpack came on April 12 in a 23-3 win over Elon. The freshman went 4 for 6 in the contest and drove in seven runs, both career highs.

With just two games left in the regular season, N.C. State has a record of 34-19 and is ranked 13th in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Poll.

As a standout outfielder and pitcher for the Bulldogs in high school, Kinneman was part of the back-to-back state championship teams in 2012 and 2013 and was named a second-team 2015 preseason All-America selection by Perfect Game USA before his senior season.

That year, he helped guide West York to the York-Adams League title and a berth in the District 3-AAA Tournament, going 5-0 with a 2.33 ERA on the mound. As a junior, he earned all-state honorable mention recognition, hitting .316 and stealing 22 bases.

Kinneman is one of four Wolfpack players to earn All-ACC recognition and the only freshman to make the All-Freshman Team. Teammate Preston Palmeiro and Evan Mendoza were both named to the ACC All-Second Team, while Josh McClain was named to the Third Team.
