For the past seven years, the York Suburban boys' volleyball team has transformed one of its home matches into a "white out."

On Tuesday, May 3, the program will hold its eighth annual "white out" match when it will team up with Dallastown to raise money for The Cancer Patient Help Fund and other cancer and scholarship organizations.

The school began the annual tradition back in 2009 as a way to honor Clark Fisher, a longtime Suburban parent, volunteer and volleyball player who died shortly after being diagnosed with lung cancer in November of 2009. This year, the Trojans will also make a donation to The Cancer Patient Help Fund in memory of John Yorgey, Sr., who was was the parent of two former Suburban volleyball players. Yorgey lost his battle with cancer in July of 2014.

Also new to this year's event is the donation of a portion of the proceeds raised being donated to the Clark E. Fisher Memorial Scholarship, which is a Penn State York scholarship for students who study engineering.

With the Wildcats as this year's participating team, they'll also be playing for a foundation. Dallastown will raise funds for Olivia's House, which has been providing bereavement therapy services for children in York County since 1996.

According to the news release sent out by York Suburban, anywhere from 200-300 fans attend the "white out" match annually, with last year's match against Red Lion raising more than $9,000. This year's goal is to exceed $10,000.

Donations for the event will be accepted through the night of the match and can be dropped off at the main office of York Suburban High School, or mailed to the school, labeled "White Out." Checks should be made out to one of the three following organizations: The Cancer Patient Help Fund, Olivia's House, or Clark E. Fisher Memorial Scholarship.
