Some of the top boys' volleyball teams in Pennsylvania will converge on Central York High School this weekend for the annual Koller Classic Invitational.

Central York's Hayden Wagner is seen here in action last season during the PIAA Class AAA state playoffs. The Panthers will serve as the host school for the 2016 Koller Classic.

The junior varsity division begins play at 3:30 p.m. Friday. The varsity division serves up more volleyball beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Three-time defending PIAA Class AA state champion Northeastern highlights the impressive list of elite AA programs set to participate.

Defending state AAA champion Parkland returns to the Koller event to defend its 2015 tournament championship.

In addition, current state-ranked AA powers York Suburban (No. 4), Ambridge (No. 5) and Cambridge Springs (No. 8) will join AA No. 1 Northeastern at this year’s invitational.

The state-ranked AAA powers set to invade York County are Parkland (No. 1), North Allegheny (No. 2), Central York (No. 4), Pennridge (No. 5), Pennsbury (No. 6) and Hempfield (No. 7).

All rankings are according to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association.

Other perennial powers expected to compete are: Central Dauphin (AAA), Cumberland Valley (AAA), Derry (AA), Emmaus (AAA), Montour (AA) and State College (AAA).

Exeter and Nazareth join the field in 2016. Chambersburg, Dallastown and Penn Manor round out the field of 20 teams.

The Dover Eagles are represented in the JV tournament on Friday.

When the event ends on Saturday night, Bruce Koller, who was Central's highly successful head coach from 1970 until 2001, will be on hand to present the championship awards.

Coaches Bruce and Barb Koller started the Koller Classic more than 40 years ago.

Tickets will be sold at the door. Ticket prices on both days are $2 for students and $5 for adults. Concessions will also be sold. All proceeds benefit the Central York boys’ volleyball program via the Central
