Red Lion's Courtney Dimoff excels in all-star contest
Red Lion High School senior Courtney Dimoff played with some of the top girls' basketball players in Pennsylvania and Maryland over the weekend and proved she could more than hold her own.
The Millersville University recruit poured in a game-high 26 points, including four 3-pointers, to help Pennsylvania to an easy 92-64 triumph in the annual Pennsylvania vs. Maryland All-Star Classic at Harrisburg Christian School on Saturday.
That was just part of a big Saturday for Dimoff. Earlier in the day she learned she had been named third-team all-state in Class AAAA by Pennsylvania sports writers.
Dimoff gave the following quote to Pennlive.com about her performance:
“That was pretty fun just firing up those shots; I’m not really sure what got into me, but it certainly was fun. This is first time I’ve played in like two weeks. I wasn’t being closely guarded as I usually am in games, so it was nice to be able to catch and shoot and just do what I’m kind of used to doing. Getting to play against all these great players from Maryland, and getting to play with great players (from Pennsylvania) … it was just fun to feel like I was right up there with all of them. So this means a lot. Getting to play with them was quite the honor.”
During the regular season, Dimoff averaged 14.7 points per game and connected for 78 3-pointers. She also hit the game-winning shot for the Lions in the York-Adams title game.
In case you missed it, the other York County players to earn all-state recognition were: Northeastern's Jordyn Kloster (girls' AAA second team), York Catholic's Kate Bauhoff (girls' AA second team), Spring Grove's Eli Brooks (boys' AAAA second team), Central York's Jared Wagner (boys' AA second team) and York Country Day's DeAireus Brown (boys' A second team).
