York County happenings: Virtual concert, play at Belmont; virtual New Year's Eve concert

The Belmont Theatre will host a virtual holiday concert, available online Dec. 4 through Jan. 2.

Virtual holiday concert and play

The Belmont Theatre in Spring Garden Township will host a virtual holiday concert and an original holiday play next month.

The "At Home for the Holidays" holiday concert will be available for streaming starting on Friday, Dec. 4, and will be online through Saturday, Jan. 2. More than 30 Belmont performers will be involved in the production with a variety of song, dance and instrumental entertainment.

"The Cowan's Covid Christmas" holiday play will be available for streaming starting on Thursday, Dec. 10, and will be online through Saturday, Jan. 2. The play will focus on how the pandemic affects a Christian/Jewish family though the holidays.

Brogue

Church announces December schedule

St. James the Apostle Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2335 Cramer Road in Brogue, has announced its December schedule.

In-person events are:

  • Sunday worship service at 9:30 a.m. 
  • Sundays, Bible study at 8:30 a.m. 
  • Wednesdays, Bible study at 10 a.m.
  • Christmas Eve service at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24.   

Masks and social distancing are required for all in-person events.

Virtual Zoom meetings are now available for the following events:

  • Sunday worship service at 9:30 a.m. 
  • Wednesday evening Bible study at 7 p.m. 
  • Thursday evenings, church history at 7 p.m. 
  • Christmas Eve service at 4 p.m.

The church's quilt group will not meet for month, and the distribution from the clothes closet will not be held.

Red Lion Recreation

Free New Year's Eve virtual event

The Red Lion Recreation, in partnership with The Guitar Spot, will be holding a free virtual concert starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31.

The following bands are scheduled to perform:

  • Pequea Crossing
  • The Mosley Brothers
  • Hot Rod Mule
  • The Trey Alexander Band

The event will be streaming on both the Red Lion Recreation's Facebook page, www.facebook.com/RedLionRec, and The Guitar Spot Youtube channel, www.youtube.com/channel/UCzXy3DDYHvx1X_SvE6uCpFg.

St. Joseph's School of York

Virtual information sessions and admissions deadlines

St. Joseph's School of York, 2945 Kingston Road in Springettsbury Township, will be holding two virtual information sessions for prospective families.

The first session will be held 4-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, and a second one will be held 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Both sessions will allow prospective families to meet staff and students of the school.

The school will also begin accepting admission applications for St. Joseph's Church families beginning on Monday, Dec. 7. All other applications will begin being accepted on Jan. 6.
