37th Annual Cultural Thanksgiving Celebration 

 Crispus Attucks York will host its 37th Annual Cultural Thanksgiving Celebration and Rising STARS Awards on Monday, Nov. 23.  

The Rising STARS Awards honor community members who have positively impacted the lives of youth in York’s community. The Rising STARS staff and participants nominated the following individuals and companies to receive an award:  Richard Craighead, Christine Feliciano, Tzipporah Goins, Anna Mercado, Arlette Morales, Laquinn Thompson and Marshalls / TJX Foundation.  

The event will take place virtually via Zoom and will be livestreamed on Crispus Attucks York’s Facebook page beginning at 5 pm.  

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Crispus Attucks will provide free grab and go dinners for members of the community to enjoy in the comfort of their homes. The dinners will be available for pick up 6-8 p.m. Nov. 23 at 605 S. Duke St. Anyone who is interested in reserving a dinner for pick up should contact Phil Drayden at 717-848-3610 ext. 279 by Thursday, Nov. 19.  

St. Paul Lutheran Church-Hametown

Soup, sandwich and cookie sale

St. Paul Lutheran Church-Hametown, 11894 Susquehanna Trail South in Glen Rock,  will be holding a drive-thru soup, sandwich and cookie sale on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Soups on the menu include: Maryland crab, chicken corn and chili. Pretzel sandwiches include: ham and swiss cheese, roast beef and American cheese, and turkey and American cheese. Assorted cookies will also be available.

Pre-orders must be placed by Tuesday, Nov. 24. No drive-up orders can be placed on day of the sale.

Toys for Tots

Bingo party

Toys for Tots of York will be holding a bingo party on Sunday, Dec. 20, at Alert Fire Hall in Emigsville, 3118 N. George St.

A total of 27 games will be played beginning at 1:45 p.m. Tickets cost $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

Attendees are also asked to bring an new unwrapped toy to be entered into a special drawing.
