PeoplesBank Park

Countywide career fair

The 2019 Career Fair will take place 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at PeoplesBank Park.

The fair will include more than 50 employers across the York County region. The York County Economic Alliance and the York Revolution welcome career seekers to engage with employers and training providers.

The annual event connects employers and training providers in manufacturing, health care, professional services, packaging and distribution centers and many more with individuals seeking an opportunity for a new career.

It also places a focus on recruiting individuals who might or might not have a criminal background. With current county unemployment numbers under 4%, this career fair provides a venue to expand opportunities available to various labor forces.

There will be a brief program at the beginning of the York Career Fair at 11:30 a.m. where partners and elected officials will address the employers and career seekers in attendance.

Appraisers will give values to collectibles, antiques and more on Oct. 17 at Glatfelter Memorial Library in Spring Grove.

Spring Grove

Local version of ‘Antiques Roadshow’

Glatfelter Memorial Library will host an appraisal clinic from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the library, 101 Glenview Road, Spring Grove.

Appraisers from Cordier Auctions and Appraisals will provide attendees with the values and history of the antiques and collectibles they bring for appraisal. The event is like the PBS television show “Antiques Roadshow” where registrants bring antiques, collector’s items and heirlooms to have them appraised.

The fee for appraisal is $10 per item or three items for $20.  An antique too large to transport to the library can be appraised by bringing a photograph.  There is a limit of three items, in-person or photograph, per person. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Glatfelter Memorial Library.

Interested individuals should register online at www.yorklibraries.org/event/antiques-appraisal-clinic/.
