Flu shots at senior center
The Stewartstown Senior Center will offer flu shots from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the center, 26 S. Main St., in Stewartstown United Methodist Church.
Walgreens Pharmacy will be administering flu shots to those 18 or older. To receive a flu shot, you must call and pre-register at 717-993-3488 by Wednesday.
Two different types of flu shots will be offered: the regular flu shot and the high dose senior flu shot.
Medicare Part B will be accepted at the clinic for the flu shot. Remember to bring your insurance card with you. If you do not have insurance, the cost for the regular flu shot is $38.99 and for the high dose senior flu shot is $66.49.
Kindness Festival on Sunday
Celebrating York’s Unity through 10,000 Acts of Kindness will hold its multi-cultural Kindness Festival from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Penn Park, 100 W. College Ave.
At the event, 10,000 area residents will gather for entertainment, a community resource fair and activities for children of all ages. They will also eat together. Everyone is invited to do an act of kindness and be among the participants at the free family friendly event.
The Kindness Celebration begins at 2 p.m with a resource fair, activities, and entertainment. A free light meal will be served at 4 p.m. Activities will continue until 6 p.m.
Everyone is invited to bring their own non-alcoholic beverages and snacks for the afternoon. Schools, groups, businesses, families, friends and individuals are invited to bring table decorations, signs, balloons and more.

Martin Library’s TechTime Power Sessions will offer Advanced Word 101, 10:30 am. Saturday, Setp. 14, at the library, 159 E. Market St.
The class is for anyone who attended the Word 101 session in July or already has a basic understanding of Word.

Dover fire company
Gun raffle dinner
Union Fire and Hose Co. No. 1 of Dover is holding a gun raffle dinner on Saturday, Sept. 14, at the station at 30 E. Canal St.
The event runs from 3 to 8 p.m., with a ham dinner served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for a chance to win 25 gun or cash prizes. Snacks, beer and soda will be provided.

2019 York Heart Walk
The American Heart Association invites workplaces, friends and families from across York County to join the 2019 York Heart Walk on Sunday, Sept. 15, at John Rudy County Park, 400 Mundis Race Road.
The event begins at 9 a.m., and the walk will step off at 10:30 a.m.
Activities will include free CPR demonstrations and blood pressure screenings, healthy snacks and kids activities. The main event is the 1-mile or 3-mile walk around John Rudy County Park. Well-behaved, leashed dogs can join their humans for the walk.
Organizers have set a goal to raise $100,000 from the Heart Walk to support the American Heart Association. Walkers who raise a minimum of $100 will receive a Heart Walk T-shirt and the opportunity to earn additional prizes.

York USA Dance
Ballroom dance on Sunday
York USA Dance Chapter 3008 will hold a social ballroom dance, 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Alert Fire Hall, 3118 N. George St., Emigsville. The event is open to dancers of all styles, ages and experience levels.
The September dance features a foxtrot lesson by chapter president Bill Baker and his wife, Lynette, from 3 to 4 p.m. followed by open dancing to music by Studio 5 until 7 p.m.
There will be a waltz demonstration by chapter treasurer Clement Ho and his dancing partner Tina Intact. They have been dancing partners since 2008 and they have been entering dance competitions together since 2011.
Admission, which includes the lesson, the dance and refreshments, is $10 for members, $14 for guests and $5 for students with IDs.
