Eastern York School District: The district's team, which partnered with Billet Industries, won an outstanding editing award in Mantec's "What's So Cool About Manufacturing?" competition. The team put together a video for the contest to showcase manufacturing careers at Billet. The video is available online at  

Lebanon Valley College: Two business students from York County finished in the top three of their respective competitive events at the 47th Pennsylvania Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference in Harrisburg. Brandon McMinn, of Hanover, placed second in the accounting for professionals event and third in marketing concepts. Adam Reed, of Hanover, placed third in the accounting principles event. 

Lebanon Valley College: Several York County students were honored at the Spring Awards and Recognition Ceremony for academic achievement in the natural sciences, social sciences, or humanities during the annual Inquiry celebration. The students and their awards are: Abbey Barnhart, of Glen Rock, Outstanding Senior in Actuarial Science Award; Devin Brown, of Etters, ACBSP/Rudd Awards; Mitchell Crane, of York, Beta Beta Beta Sophomore Achievement Award in Biology; Sydney Fuhrman, of York, Agnes Boyle O'Donnell Literature Award; Samantha Mann, of Dillsburg, Psychology Department's Leadership Award; Brandon McMinn, of Hanover, Achievement Scholarship Award in Business Administration; Lauren Sigmon, of Hanover, Cloyd H. Ebersole Scholarship; Elena Spadaccino, of Etters, Florence Wolf Knauss '07 Edward E. Knauss '07 Memorial Award in Music; Jacob Whitfield, of York, Merle L. Wise '53 Memorial Fund Award; and Erica Wise, of York, Alumni Scholarship. 

YTI Career Institute: Eighteen area seniors received scholarships through the school's Beacon Scholarship and Trades Scholarships programs.  

Those attending the York campus and their high schools are Onasis Bisbal and Marlena Dunnett, both from Dallastown; Sara Geldmacher and Alexis Youngblood, both from Kennard-Dale; Jessie Himelright, from Octorara; Gideon Sharun, from Perry Hall Christian; Alyssa Bonilla, from Red Lion; Ethan Wilson, from South Western; Keagan Bange, from Spring Grove; and Rowan Clay, York County School of Technology.  

Those attending the Lancaster campus and their high schools are Alexxus Pennington and Brianna Randler, both from Commonwealth Charter Academy; Brett Martin, from Conestoga Valley; Kaitlyn MacMillan, from Governor Mifflin; Aubrey Good, homeschooled; Bailey Putt, from the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School; Allison Blackwell, from Susquehannock; and Ashley Waltersdorf, from York Suburban. 



National Guard: Sgt. Luis Ortiz, of Windsor, will receive the Humanitarian Service Award for service in Puerto Rico from Oct. 2, 2017, to Dec. 15, 2017, providing disaster relief and assistance to victims of Hurricane Maria. Ortiz serves with the 442nd Military Police Company of the New York Army National Guard. 



Burger King Scholars: Six students from York County received $1,000 scholarships from the Burger King McLamore Foundation through GPS Hospitality. The scholarships are funded by donations from patrons at Burger King restaurants. The York County winners are Jarrett Klunk, Briana Martin, Avery Martz and Henry Smith, all of Hanover Senior High School; Kyle Chambers, of West York Area High School; and Samuel Rodski, of York Catholic High School.
