RUDY COUNTY PARK

Explore day and night skies

View the sun, the moon and a host of other celestial bodies during the York County Astronomical Society’s astronomy day Saturday, April 28, at John Rudy County Park, 400 Mundis Race Road, East Manchester Township.

The daytime fun will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with demonstrations of radio telescopes and solar observing as well as presentations inside the observatory. Society member Mike Wenz will share his solar telescope to help attendees safely view the sun. Member Kerry Smith will discuss how radio astronomy is helping scientists unlock the answers to the universe’s mysteries.

From 8 to 10 p.m., attendees will get a tour of the night sky by telescope. The evening event will begin with a presentation on a variety of astronomy-related topics.

The event is free, but donations help the astronomy society host similar events throughout the year. For more information, visit the society on Facebook at www.facebook.com/AstroYork.
