Jazz Appreciation Concert planned

Celebrate the versatility and spirit of jazz during the annual Jazz Appreciation Concert at St. John Episcopal, 140 N. Beaver St., York.

Part of the St. John’s Concert Series, the performance gets underway at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, with five players. Featured artist Terell Stafford is the director of jazz studies at Temple University as well as the managing and artistic director of the Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia. Longtime jazz pianist McCoy Tyner has called him “one of the great players of our time, a fabulous trumpet player.”

Stafford will be joined by Tim Warfield on saxophone, Bruce Barth on piano, Peter Washington on bass and Billy Williams on drums.

The program is free, but offerings are welcome. Free parking is available in the lot across the street from the church.
