Audition for ‘Into the Woods’

dreamwrights logo

Fairy tale characters will come to life in “Into the Woods” at DreamWrights Center for Community Arts, but first the theater needs to find the perfect community members for the parts.

Auditions are open to teenagers, 13 to 19, and start at 6 p.m. Monday, April 16, and Tuesday, April 17. Director Laurie Riffe says she will “cast the best actor for each role, regardless of gender,” so don’t be hemmed in by expectations when deciding whether to audition.

The musical is described as challenging, so those auditioning will be asked to act out their song as they would a monologue. Audition music can be memorized or not, and all performers will be accompanied by the music director.

For audition tips, visit dreamwrights.org/audition-info. Audition appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. Twenty actors will be cast.

“Into the Woods” will run June 14 through June 24 at the theater, 100 Carlisle Ave., York.
