Walidah Imarisha of Stanford University will give a talk, 7 p.m. Friday, March 9, at York College on her collection of essays about the work of science-fiction author Octavia Butler.

The free program on “Octavia’s Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movement” is part of the college’s Humanities Lecture Series, which this year is looking at the role of science fiction in helping Americans address pressing social issues. Imarisha, an award-winning author, will speak in Room 218 at the York College Humanities Center.
