Film on race and justice

York College’s Humanities Film Series will present “13th,” a documentary about the 13th Amendment, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, in Room 218 of the Humanities Center on campus, 441 Country Club Road.

The Emmy-winning film explores how the criminal justice system creates a form of modern-day slavery for people of color. York College professor Erec Smith will give a presentation about the film and how the way Americans talk about criminalization favors the prison system. A question-and-answer session will follow the free screening.
