City in need of holiday tree

York City is searching for the perfect tree to place on the square for this year’s holiday season.

York City's Community Christmas Tree arrived in Continental Square Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016. The 30-foot, 4,000-pound blue spruce was donated by Brent Hatterer of York, and Life Path Ministries. The tree was cut, moved and installed in the square by Kinsley Construction with assistance from the York City Electrical Bureau. Bil Bowden photo

The search is for a spruce tree more than 30 feet tall. It will be removed at no cost to the property owner.

To donate a tree, call Carol Godfrey at 717-845-9351 with a name, address and phone number.

The Light Up York festivities will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2.
