Plan-writing seminar open to farmers
The York County Conservation District will host Writing Your Own Agricultural Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan, a free seminar for farmers, 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the York County Annex, Room 1, 118 Pleasant Acres Road.
All farms that plow and till soil, including no-till practices, must develop and implement a written plan to reduce erosion. Bare areas created by animals, such as exercise lots, must also be addressed in the plan regardless of the number of animals. Farmers are permitted to write their own plans, which must be available on the farm for the operation to be in compliance with the state.
The seminar will provide information and guidance to help farmers write their own plan.
Registration is due by Friday, Sept. 22.
