United Way of York County gets grant
Geisinger has announced the recipients of its community grants of $130,000 to agencies serving south central Pennsylvania.
Five community health issues were the focus for funding: food insecurity and healthy choices; transportation; housing stability; opioid prevention and treatment; and pediatric obesity.
Locally, the United Way of York County received $5,000 to support its Healthy Habits program, which focuses on preventing childhood obesity.
Also, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank received $80,000 to provide access to healthy foods throughout the region.
Geisinger has awarded $1 million in community grants to non-profit organizations throughout its 43-county service area. It expects next year’s award amounts to reach up to $2 million.
