Water rescue tests for dogs

Colonial Newfoundland Club will conduct water rescue tests for Newfoundland dogs, Friday-Sunday, Aug. 4-6, at Codorus State Park.

Certified dogs will demonstrate their ability to rescue swimmers and boaters during dramatic tests and exercises. Hours are 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday; and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.

Newfoundlands, considered the “power swimmers” of the dog world, are used with some police and fire departments and are used to patrol beaches in parts of Europe.

Admission is free.
