The York County History Center has a new series of activities for children beginning in July at or from the Colonial Complex, 157 W. Market St.

A family-friendly history festival is held by York County History Center at the Colonial Complex in York City, Saturday, June 24, 2017. The festival signifies the kickoff for the Placing History at the Center Capital Campaign, which will continue through October. The purpose of the campaign is to raise necessary funds to "renovate and repurpose the Met-Ed Stteam Generating Plant at 121 N. Pershing Avenue as the new York County History Center Museum , Library & Archives," according to a press release. Dawn J. Sagert photo

All events are free for center members and no registration is required. The schedule is:

  • Stroller tour series for babies and adults, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 5. Nonmember cost: $6. Call for a reschedule date if raining.
  • Preschool activity series for ages 3-6, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 12. Nonmember cost: $6 per child, free for adults. Held rain or shine.
  • Family activity series, a teddy bear picnic, 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 15. Bring a blanket, picnic lunch and plush pal. Nonmember cost: $6 for children ages 4 and older, free for adults. Will be held indoors if raining.
