Citizenship Ready, EL Civics courses will begin March 25 in cooperation with the York County Literacy Council, New Hope Ministries and the Hanover YWCA, all United Way agencies, CASA and the Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center.

The 16-week course will include American government and history, Citizenship test preparation with English language lessons for reading and writing and consultation on the naturalization and application processes.

Session one will be held 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays, March 25-July 15, at the York County Literacy Council, 800 E. King St.

Session two will be held 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays, July 22-Nov. 4, at New Hope Ministries, 135 Baltimore St., Hanover.

The classes are free (childcare may be available) for qualified participants, who must be eligible to apply for citizenship.

The courses are being funded by an anonymous donor and the York County Community Foundation.
