The York County Department of Parks and Recreation will host a Maple Sugar Fest, Feb. 25-26 and March 4-5 at the Nixon County Park Nature Center.

The event will feature demonstrations; samples; a story walk and scavenger hunt (also held Tuesday-Friday); and activities and crafts. Maple products will be available.

There will be a class on how to start a maple-sugaring production, 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26. The cost is $10 and pre-registration is required at 428-1961.

Also, sugaring presentations will be held, 1 and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5.

Festival hours are 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays and noon-4 p.m. Sundays. Hands-on tours will run hourly, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays and 1-3 p.m. Sundays.

Weekend admission is $2 per person or free for park members or children 5 and younger.
