The 25-minute concert will feature the variable-pitched whistle installed at Metso Minerals, 240 Arch St. It will be operated by Don Ryan, who is celebrating 62 years of performances, and his sons, Scott and Mark.

A vendor will be selling hot cocoa and snacks in the Santander Stadium parking lot, North Queen Street, during the event, which is also sponsored by the York County Community Foundation and the Engineering Society of York.

Also, for the second year, the whistle will be live streamed beginning at midnight at www.yorkpafactorywhistle.com, on Facebook at YorkPaWhistle and from the Factory Whistle Master app.

A 45-minute practice concert is scheduled for noon Saturday, Dec. 24. The whistle is designed to be heard within a five-mile radius of Metso, but those who can hear it beyond that area are asked to call or text Jeri Jones at 887-7103 or jonesgeo@comcast.net.
