The York City Police Department, 50 W. King St., is accepting applications for its 2016 Citizen’s Police Academy, held at 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 25-Nov. 17.

The eight-week program provides a first-hand overview of the department’s law enforcement and community-related functions. Participants will experience role-playing exercises, take tours and interact with officers while on duty.

Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, complete an application, and provide a valid college or government-issued ID card. A criminal history background check will be performed on all applicants.

There is no fee for training, but participants must commit to the entire schedule.
