An assembly of canoes


The Wooden Canoe Heritage Association will host its public mini-assembly, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Pinchot Park, Conewago day-use area.


The international organization is devoted to preserving, restoring, studying, building and using wooden and bark canoes.

The event will feature a display of 35 canoes; live demonstrations on canoe repairing, paddle-making, camping and camp-cooking; and talks about camping equipment.

Admission is free.
