The Rev. Kyle Gott

First Presbyterian Church of York: The Rev. Kyle Gott, originally from La Jolla, Calif., has been named the new lead pastor. He and his wife, Lydia, are professional songwriters.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, York Ward: Joseph B. Wagner, 19, of Dallastown, has accepted a two-year proselytizing mission in Portland, Ore.


U.S. Military Academy at West Point: Cadet Brigit A. Duffy, of Glen Rock, recently completed cadet basic training after entering West Point on June 27.


Drexel University: Myles David Stricker, of York, with honors.

University of Rhode Island: Matthew Sirois, of Hanover, and Abbey Alexis Miklitsch (magna cum laude), of York.


Universal Technical Institute: Derek Kelly, of Red Lion, graduated from the automotive technology program with a 4.0 GPA; 100 percent attendance; five Student of the Course awards (highest grade); 14 director’s lists standings; and was nominated into Alpha Beta Kappa honor society.


Elizabethtown College: Adam Saubel, of Glen Rock, has been named vice president of the student senate for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Lebanon Valley College: Local students named to The Pride of The Valley Marching Band are Taylor Reed, of New Freedom; Duncan Keller, of Red Lion; Jacob Weller, of Wellsville; and Abby Hamilton, Patrick Holmgren and Breah Koller, all of York.

Lebanon Valley College: Laura Schmidt, of Red Lion, has been named an ambassador for the 2016-17 academic year.

Lycoming College: Local students who developed classroom kits for a preschool healthy-eating program are Thamina Peti and Paisley Simmons, both of York.

Susquehanna University: Katelyn Herrin, a student at Dallastown Area High School, participated in the weeklong wind ensemble institute, a summer program for talented high school musicians.
