Kennard-Dale High School: Students who placed on the AMVETS state level of the National Americanism (flag protection) and AMVETS Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse (Be Smart, Don’t Start) essay contests are Brittany Wolf, Grade 12, first place, Be Smart, and second place, flag protection; Emily Mink, Grade 11, first place, flag protection; Sarah Bolyard-Affeld, Grade 12, third place, flag protection, and second place, Be Smart; and Amanda Buckheit, Grade 10, third place, Be Smart. Wolf and Mink qualified for the national level competition.
Northern High School: FFA members Mary Secord and Aliyah Parcels, both ninth-graders, placed second and third in the area FFA public speaking contest on April 5.
Northern High School: Students who were named Student of the Quarter at Cumberland Perry Area Vocational Technical School for the third marking period are 12th-graders Karley Berry and Matthew Portko; 11th-graders Chelsea Engel and Nathan Merovich; and 10th-graders Kayla Broom, Jeremy Sampson and Nathaniel Sprigg.
